About Us

A wide range of skills, experience and techniques…

Welcome to JMK Goldsmiths, where our passion for bespoke fine jewellery and traditional craftsmanship creates timeless pieces that can be enjoyed for generations.

At JMK Goldsmiths, we specialise in blending contemporary jewellery design with time-honoured tradition. We have decades of experience using a wide range of techniques and skills allowing us to design and create any bespoke piece in any style.

The same goldsmithing skills depicted in centuries-old paintings of goldsmiths at their craft are the same skills and techniques still used in our workshop today. Peer through the large glass windows fronting our workshop to watch our goldsmiths use the same tools and techniques as those before them.

JMK Goldsmiths was established in 1987 after the closure of the Kilkenny Design Workshop, when renowned Irish goldsmith and craftsman James Mary Kelly bought out the precious metal workshop and followed his dream to launch his own brand.

Today, JMK Goldsmiths is a family affair, with James Mary Kelly joined by his son Neill and daughter-in-law Marie, all established goldsmiths in their own right. Our journey has been one of considerable evolution, from handwrought
silver to now including platinum and gold alongside the use of precious stones such as diamonds and rubies. Today, our range features fine jewellery statement pieces to pendants, earrings and engagement rings, wedding bands, and eternity rings and unique presents for that special occasion.

JMK Goldsmiths has left an indelible mark on Irish culture and design so much so that two works created by James Mary Kelly are included in the prestigious National Museum of Ireland’s permanent collection.

JMK Goldsmiths has also created hallmark pieces such as the RDS Grand Prix Ireland show jumping trophy, the Liam MacCarthy Cup, the Tabernacle for Armagh Cathedral and the Irish Master Snooker Trophy. We have also been commissioned by AIB, Smurfit Group, EBS, Guinness Peat Innovation, Glanbia and Tirlan for unique pieces, and created civic regalia for various organisations.

We are also proud to have been recognised with several awards including Royal Dublin Society Best Craftsperson and RDS Best Craft Design, and our work has been showcased on TG4 and RTE’s Nationwide and the US edition of House and Garden Magazine.

At JMK Goldsmiths, we invite you to be a part of our journey – a journey that spans generations, blending tradition with innovation to create fine bespoke jewellery that is as unique as you are.
